PEPPERELL — Chief David Scott reports that the Pepperell Police Department cited a driver following a motor vehicle crash with injuries this morning.
An 18-year-old male from Nashua, N.H. was cited for Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Speeding and Failing to Stop at a Stop Sign.
At approximately 9 a.m., Pepperell Police received a report of a two-car motor vehicle crash on East Street at Lowell Road (Route 113).
Upon arrival to the scene, police learned that the 18-year-old man was driving a 2018 Honda CRV and traveling northbound on East Street when he allegedly ran a stop sign at the intersection of Lowell Road. He then collided with a 72-year-old Pepperell woman in a 2017 Toyota Corolla, who was heading east on Lowell Road.
The crash pushed the Toyota parallel to the northbound side of East Street, where it then traveled 75 feet, eventually landing in the woods.
Pepperell Police and Fire used rescue tools to extricate the woman, who suffered serious injuries and was taken via ambulance to an area hospital.
The 18-year-old man declined medical treatment on scene.
Both cars were towed from the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Pepperell Police Department and Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
